WEEKLY SCHEDULE
Our door opens 15 minutes before each practice period, for welcome and orientation. Please arrive 15 minutes early if you are new to the Center or to Zen practice.
Morning Practice Periods
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday — 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.
All morning practice periods include sitting and walking meditation (zazen and kinhin) and a brief chanting service. Dokusan (individual meeting with a teacher) is offered every Friday morning.
Evening Practice Periods
Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday – 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
All evening practice periods include sitting and walking meditation (zazen and kinhin), a chanting service, a dharma talk and dharma discussion. Some periods will also include dokusan (individual meeting with a teacher; first Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday evening of each month, as will the third and fifth Tuesdays).
There is no charge for weekly practice periods or dokusan. However, donations (dana) of any amount are gratefully accepted. All donations are used to provide a stipend for the teachers, pay for the rent and maintenance of facilities, and to support the work of the Worcester Zen Community and Boundless Way Zen.
SATURDAY PRACTICE PERIODS
April 21, May 12 and June 23 with Melissa Myozen Blacker Roshi and David Dae An Rynick Roshi
* Saturday practice periods are held on select Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Worcester Zen Center/Boundless Way Temple, and include zazen, chanting, and dokusan (individual meetings with the teachers.)
* Participants may come for any part of the day on Saturday.
* Please bring sitting cushions if you have them, and your lunch.
SESSHIN
January 28 – February 17 (Residential Ango; Jukai and Ango Opening ceremony on Jan 28)
March 8 – 11, 2012
July 28 – August 4, 2012
October 11 – 14, 2012
December 4 – 9, 2012 (5 day Rohatsu)
Sesshin is an intensive residential practice period taught by James Myoun Ford Roshi, Melissa Myozen Blacker Roshi, David Dae An Rynick Roshi, and Josh Munen Bartok Osho , and is held at Worcester Zen Center/Boundless Way Temple. More information about sesshin, including fees and application forms, is available on the Boundless Way website, or write to info@boundlesswayzen.org. Registration for sesshin opens two months in advance.
The teachers: David Dae An Rynick Roshi and Melissa Myozen Blacker Roshi, who have been practicing Zen since 1981, guide the Worcester Zen Center/Boundless Way Temple. David is a student of and has received Dharma Transmission from Zen Master George Bomun Bowman. Melissa is a Soto Zen priest, and is a student of and has received Dharma Transmission from James Myoun Ford Roshi. James is a Soto Zen priest, and has received Dharma Transmission from Jiyu Kennett Roshi and John Tarrant Roshi. Josh Bartok Osho, the resident teacher at Waldo and primary teacher for BoWZ-East, is a Dharma Holder in Boundless Way Zen, and a transmitted Soto Zen priest, having received Denkai from James Ishmael Ford in July of 2011. Melissa, David, and James are the guiding teachers of Boundless Way Zen, a community of Zen practice centers throughout New England.
