Buddhism 101 Spring Series 2017: The Seven Factors of Awakening

Study and Practice on Four Saturdays 2017
February 18, March 11, April 1, May 13

Schedule (May 13):

9:00-12:00 Workshop
12:30-1:15 Caretaking practice
1:30-5:00 Silent Retreat

Note: You can register for the remaining (May 13) session of the series even if you did not attend previous sessions. The afternoon retreat is optional.

Join us to explore the core Buddhist teaching of the seven factors of awakening. We study these seven teachings as both a description of the awakening that is already present and as a description of the path to realize that reality. As always, central to our inquiry for this class will be: What is the relevance of these teachings for our lives, including how we live in and work with our current political situation?

After lunch we will have the opportunity to apply the morning’s teaching through the traditional mindfulness practice of samu – caretaking of the Temple and grounds. Following that we will have afternoon Zen practice, with silent sitting, chanting, a dharma talk, and individual meetings.

No registration is necessary for the afternoon retreat.
